Home is where the.....for sale sign is????

Due to some changes in our lives, now has become time to sell the place we call home. A little Hamblin history--Chris and I were married on August 7, 1999 and we lived in an apartment for our first year and that is where we began to save and save for our first place. About 8-9 months later we began construction on our new house. We picked a chunk of land by the lake and on a culdesac. We had watched this house go through all the stages of construction. We always made a point to try and visit everyday. We walked through the house just made of sticks and concrete and imagined where everything would go, which rooms would be used for what, and how we would decorate. We imagined entertaining guests lakeside-laughing and talking. We imagined ourselves sitting out on the back porch watching the birds flying over the water while we talked about growing old together. On August 16, 2000, we were handed the keys to our first home. But never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that this little house would grow in so many big ways!

On August 14, 2005, we brought our little girl home and there we began our journey of making our house truly a home. The land we bought became the backyard that we played in with our puppies and the grass we laid in with Aleeyah to watch the stars. The pond became the place that we first taught Aleeyah to fish and where we watched together as the gooslings grew into geese. It became the place we began teaching Aleeyah about God's big amazing backyard. Our living room became the place that we laughed and talked for hours with our friends and family. The kitchen counters became the place that all 26 family members and friends filled with food during holidays. The room that once held our left over stuff was painted a shade of purple and became our daughter's bedroom-the very room that I have spent many hours in wonderment while I watch her sleep. It is also the bedroom that she will probably never remember in her teen years while I strive to remember all the times we spent together playing, laughing, and cuddling. From tragedy to turmoils, there has been tears shed while we were here, but I can truly say there have been many more tears of joy and gratefulness in this house because the Lord has blessed us in more ways than we could ever dream.

Sometimes, I fear that a lot of these memories will be forgotten just as we will be forgotten by our neighbors as we move along in our lives. I know the house does not make our family grow and it is in our minds and hearts that we hold our memories, but sometimes I just can't imagine calling anywhere else home.

Well, I guess it's about time for me to start getting use to the idea. The house went on the market this last Sunday and only 6 days later, we have had multiple offers and have accepted one. Our closing date is at the end of June. It is going to a young couple and I can't help but smile when I think about how the life of our first home will continue to be enriched by the families that dwell in it.

The first couple of pictures are of the land before the house was built and then, of course, there is the picture of Chris and I proudly standing in our sticks!

Here are a couple of the house now!

Aleeyah's School Program

Aleeyah had her first school program a couple of weeks ago. I would love to say that my child stood up there and sang with so much delight in her heart and was the star of the show. Unfortunately, I cannot say that, BUT I CAN say that all the other kid's parents were just as fortunate as I was. Their song that they were to sing was, Itsy Bitsy Spider. They came out in their cute little spider hats and sat down on the stage. I saw a few fingers moving and maybe a couple of words came out here and there, but really-her teacher Mrs. Tracy stole the show!!! They were cute none-the-less!!! Then afterwards they marched around to a very cute dinosaur song which the kids seemed to like much more. It was hard to get it all on video, but you will have to trust me that it was adorable.

The first pictures are of Aleeyah right before we left for her last day of school for this year. There are a couple of pictures of her on the stage. The last picture is of her and her two teachers, Mrs. Tracy and Mrs. Sheila. I just realized the video is still on the video camera so I will have to post that at a later date.

Updates Through Backblogging!

My friend, Lisa, informed me that what I am about to do is "backblogging". I have had several things to blog about but just not enough time!!! So here I am attempting to try to get caught up and no they probably wont be in any kind of order! :) So hang on!

We have been very busy around here lately. Lots and lots to do!!! I am ready to announce the big news but will probably save it for my last insert of today (which actually you will probably end up reading first since it last--hope that made sense).

Aleeyah has been out of school the last couple of weeks and had her first school program to end the year (pictures and video to come). So in all the craziness of the last couple of weeks she has really stepped up to be mommy's helper. She has really amazed me over the last couple of weeks with her ability to retain information. Like I said a couple of months ago she has learned to recognize all her upper case letters. She now has learned about 1/2 of her lower case (or baby letters as we call them so she will comprehend it better..ex A=momma A and a=baby A). She recognizes several letters in sign language and can even do a few of them herself when asked to sign a certain letter (without me showing it to her first). I am so thankful that we get to spend as much time together as we do. I love watching her grow and learn so many new things.

Chris started his new job this week and is LOVING it. He is real happy with the new work environment and all his new computer geek friends! ha ha! He has truly been happy in his job and already feeling like a part of the crew. I am so happy to see him getting excited about his career again.

As far as I go--Vacation Bible School is this week!!! Although fun to coordinate, it can be very exhausting keeping everything straight and organized. We went and did some last minute shopping today and even got a little panicked when I found out YESTERDAY that my 5/6th grade teacher would no longer be able to make it. But those things are to be expected and Lord always provides. We have probably over 100 pre-registered kids so far! I am excited about this year and the opportunity that we have to reach out to kids and teach them all about sharing God's love through service to others. If you are able to make it-it is this Sunday-Wednesday from 6:30-8:30pm. It should be fun times!! Things will be slowing down for me soon-more to come in the big news section!!!

Big News!!!! and a New Job

Alright, with a title like that you would think I was about to actually tell you what the big news is, BUT unfortunately I cannot do that today. Probably, the first thing that would come to mind when you think of a young family with 1 daughter about to turn 3 is that we are going to be welcoming a new babe in the family soon. If you did think that-you would be incorrect. I can also say-it is also the cause for my absence. As my life right now revolves around this one thing and honestly I haven't had much time to do anything else. I am hoping soon that I will be able to blog about it.

On a different note :) - You might have read several posts ago that Chris was looking for a new job. He hasn't been at his current job very long, but there were promises made in order for him to come to this job and they were not kept. He was sought out by his current employer who he had worked with 8ish years ago. It was a man that Chris has always looked up to and admired. We felt that it would be a great opportunity for our family and one that we couldn't pass up. Since then, Chris has been traveling all the time (and was gone almost every holiday) with this job when they had told him it would only be a few months of traveling in the beginning. Now I can understand if the company isn't growing like they had originally thought, but then he found out in a lunch meeting with a client that they had lied to him multiple times about a partnership share. It is something he didn't get in writing because they assured him that noone had it in writing yet, but that it would be coming. He asked about it several times, but they kept reassuring. Sure enough, he found out that they have not included him in this nor will they be doing so. Needless to say, neither himself or I wanted him to work there any longer. I think it is most disappointing because Chris looked up to his employer so much and always has.

BUT where one door closes, God opens another! Chris has found a new job! It has been an amazing experience in that we have seen God giving us direction and answers throughout the entire process. He couldn't be anymore clear on his desires for our family. We learned that the job with his current employer was only a stepping stone for what God had in store for us. Chris has spent roughly 8 hours in interview time with the new company. One interview was 4 1/2 hours long which included an hour of technical question drilling by 5 of their current techs. It has been a grueling and hard process, but worth it in the end. They have hired him to be a Senior Windows System Administrator (what that means-I don't even know). He is VERY excited about his new job and is looking forward to feeling a part of a team again. This will be his last week with his current job and then he reports to his new job the following week.

God is working in our lives right now and He is so good to us! We laid our burdens at His feet and He gave us direction. We cried to Him and He gave me peace and the words to help ease Chris' concerns. We give thanks to Him and He continues to bless us!

Zoo Fun!!!

As promised in the last post-I am here to give you the zoo pictures from today! We had a great time and we were all absolutely exhausted by time we left. Of course, like anytime we go out with the Kandi and Trey, we had our adventures that I am sure to hear from Greg about!

Animal Sounds and Dating

I wanted to stop by real quick and share a funny video we took of Aleeyah the other day doing animal sounds. I love how she imitates a zebra and giraffe chewing since they aren't much of noise makers.

We are heading out to the zoo tomorrow for a picnic and animal watching with Aleeyah's friend Trey and his mom-who happens to be my friend Kandi-ha ha. So we will have some zoo pictures coming soon! Funny thing is-we were having a hard time getting Aleeyah to stay in bed and go to sleep. It only took telling her she needed to get her beauty sleep because we were going to go see the animals at the zoo tomorrow with Trey. Then she excitedly said Trey and ran off to her room to return to bed! So after we chaperon her date tomorrow-I will post some pics!

Until then, enjoy the video!
