Our Mini-Trip to Kansas

We got an opportunity this last weekend to go to Kansas to see my dad and my "little" brother. I say "little" because although he is younger than me-he is much taller than I am. I think he may even be a little bit taller than Chris now. I have a hard time seeing him any older than 4, but I realized over the weekend-he will be graduating high school next year. Crazy! Anyways-we had a really good time hanging out with the family and on top of everything, I got to enjoy my dad's cooking!

On Saturday, we went to this free petting zoo. Dad thought it was just a little petting zoo and he wanted to take Aleeyah because he has been wanting to go, but felt a little odd going without someone under the age of 10. It was an amazing place and not so little either. It was pretty unbelievable that it was free and we will definately be returning to see the rest of it. We all enjoyed the zoo tremendously, but Cody and Aleeyah seemed to have the most fun! Well, I have a ton of pictures in the slideshow below and I will tell the story as it goes! **For some reason on a few of the slides the words are getting chopped off. I'm not sure what to do to fix it.**

I have a few other things to post. I'll try to get it done tonight too, but no promises! So be checking back!

Heart Walk 2008

This last Saturday we walked in the Heart Walk put on by the American Heart Association. There were about 35 people who showed up to support our friend, Joshua.

He was born with congenital heart disease. It was nice to be able to see him walk, run, and sometimes ride out the mile with his red survivor's cap on. He is a strong, happy little guy! We had a good time and felt blessed to share this time with the Wright family.

Enjoy the pictures!

Pirate or Rock Star?

Here are some pictures and video that I took of the girl today! The first part of the video is of Aleeyah singing the ABC song with her guitar and the second part is ABC's accompanied by Leap.

Fam Update with some Sap!

Sorry, it has been a couple of weeks since I last blogged. I have had lots to blog about, but not a lot of time dedicated to sit down and write. And now I sit here trying to think of how much of it to blog about. I guess I'll just skip the majority of it and just go with an update. I might spread a few things out to different blogs-just to make it easier.

Well, Chris is still job hunting and that seems to be going well in some areas and not so well in others. We have completely given it to God so I can happily report that we aren't stressing over it-not even in the slightest. My job is rapidly getting crazier as summer is approaching fast. We start out our summer with VBS and then end it with day camp. There is, of course, so much involved in those 2 projects alone to keep me busy! Thankfully, God always provides and things always come together and people always step forward to help when needed. So I feel a sense of urgency but also a sort of odd calmness-knowing everything will be alright. Aleeyah is ever growing in her words, knowledge, and body. It dawned on me the other day that my baby girl will be turning 3 years old in about 4 months! There are some days that I feel like I can't wait to do different "big girl" stuff with her (there are so many things I want to show her and teach her) and then there are other days I want to just cradle her in my arms like I once did-her beautiful eyes looking up into mine as I wondered what the future held for her. Chris and I have such a strong relationship with her. She loves her Daddy so much and cries anytime he leaves even if he is driving in the car right beside us. I am so grateful that her and I get to spend so much time together. We do everything together and nothing makes me happier!

Well, I guess that's how we have been! My dad was here the weekend before last and here are a couple of pictures of the two of them.

Stepping Stones & Pottery Wheels

A couple of weeks ago I posted some pictures of Aleeyah and I making a stepping stone for the garden. Well, it has completely dried now and has been removed from it's mold. Below is a picture of it. If you cant tell, the big red part in the middle is a mushroom-Chris thought it was a weird shaped heart-so I thought I would clarify! Aleeyah enjoyed this project! I think I am going to try to find a pottery class to take to learn how to make stuff on a wheel. I have wanted to learn for a long time and I would like to teach her, too. I think she would like it!

Here is the finished picture I promised! I tried to get a picture of her with it, but she wasn't cooperating.

Gone Fishin'

Chris made it home on Friday night and we have been enjoying our time together. He should be at home for at least the next week. Aleeyah and I are so happy to have him back again. I know he was only gone for a couple of weeks, but it was a LONG 2 weeks.

This afternoon and on into the evening we were suppose to go to the Redhawks game and to watch Jeremy Camp in concert. We were looking forward to being able to go, but a few things came up and we weren't able to make it. We decided to just spend time with each other here at the house.

We spent our time teaching Aleeyah how to hit a ball off a tee, we played in the sandbox, and eventually, went fishing. Aleeyah picked out her Barbie fishing pole and was very excited about it-even though I am sure she didn't understand what it was. She didn't have a lot of patience since she had no clue as to what was going on....until she caught her first fish and then she was hooked! She enjoyed reeling him in and then Chris talked to her about all his fishy parts. They pointed out his eyes, gills, and fins and even felt his slimy skin.

Watching the two of them together reminded me of some really great times with my own Dad. He use to take my sister and I to go fishing when we were younger. We really had fun spending time with him. I remember always having to go to the bathroom as soon as we got out by the pond, I remember the train we use to ride at the pay pond, and I remember being just as impatient as Aleeyah was this evening.

I am so thankful for those moments that I had with my dad and just as excited that Aleeyah one day will look back and remember these very moments. The moments that don't cost much, but make such a huge impact on our hearts. The moments that we all stop our busy lives to find joy and peace in God's great wonders.

Next is a video of our fishing adventure. Out of all the video segments we have-the one segment that actually shows her reeling in the fish is corrupt somehow. I am going to try to figure it out, but for now the video does not show this part. :( **EDIT** GOT IT-SEE 2ND VIDEO!!!!

Concrete + Broken Glass = Yard Art

Tonight, we worked on a stepping stone made out of concrete and broken glass. The first time Aleeyah put her finger in concrete-she quickly pulled her finger to her mouth to taste it. Sometimes, I wonder about that kid and the things she puts in her mouth! She did enjoy pushing the glass into the concrete.

We plan on putting it in her own garden once we build our house. For now, it will go out in the front flower bed. We took some pictures of her making it. I will take some more once it dries enough to take it out of the mold which will be a few days.

Aunt Warren with some Cheese!

Aunt Lauren (or Warren as Aleeyah calls her) came home from Florida for Spring Break last week. We were very excited to get to spend some time with her. She came with a friend, Andi and her twin 4 year old daughters. We had plans to spend the afternoon at the park, but rain came in and spoiled our plans. We decided to go to Chuck-E-Cheese instead for their "yummy" pizza and indoor fun! We all had a fabulous time and Andi's daughters were too cute!

Enjoy the pictures!!!

It's Raining Sand

As I promised, here is the video and some pictures of Aleeyah playing in her sandbox. Don't forget to listen for the birds. It's so peaceful. I'm thinking we NEED a hammock!!!

Make sure to click on the first picture to enlarge it-it explains the title of this blog!!!

Look At Us Now!!!!!!

Well, I am super excited about our new look! My friend had paid someone to design her page and it got me to thinking-our's needs some help. Of course, I am cheap and like to do things myself so I found an online free digital scrapbooking kit (backgrounds, embellishments, and such). Here is the website if anyone is interested: . They also have an area that has different elements for sale. If you like to design things digitally-it's a great resource!

I hope you like the new look!!! I've been trying to find a way to use the picture of Aleeyah's hiney! ha ha

BTW-I know I have yet to upload the video I promised. I will do it soon-keep checking back!
